Player Accessories

There are hundreds of choices when it comes to media player accessories, but how do you know which ones are right for you? It helps to under the different types of accessories that are available, and to know what accessories will work with your particular media player. Nothing is more frustrating than buying a new accessory only to discover that it will not work with your specific player!

Headphones

One of the most common accessories is the headphones. Headphones come in a wide variety of shapes and styles, even sizes, all designed to fit a wide variety of people. Make sure that you choose the right kind of headphones. For example, noise canceling headphones are great if you need to get rid of static or foreign noises such as traffic, but these are not a good choice if you are driving or jogging and need to hear the traffic. Some people prefer earbuds, many of which fit into the ear and provide a great quality of sound, but not everyone can tolerate this. For those people, there are headphones that clip over the ears, and others that fit over the head on a band. These headphones are not designed to drown out outside noises, but they are great for casual listening, and many find them more comfortable than earbuds.

Speakers

When shopping for accessories, some people just need speakers. If you have one that is good enough to work as a stereo then adding speakers is a great idea. You can save a lot of room by getting fold-up speakers that allow your media player to fit down inside, but even that do not fold-up are a good choice. These speakers are small, but they still give you a great sound. To really immerse yourself in the experience, you can choose such speakers as audio chairs, which have the speakers built right into a chair for both comfort and fun.

Carrying Cases

If you only buy one kind of media player accessories you should buy at least two cases for your device. Cases protect your item from liquids, dirt, and just about everything else that could harm it. Some cases are designed to clip onto your belt, and these are perfect if you are often on the go and want to have your hands free while you listen to your music. Other cases snap closed, and these usually will not allow you to access any buttons without opening the case, though they often have a place for the headphones to come through. Some of the best cases are called “skins” and these cases actually fit over your media player like a second skin. They provide a great deal of protection for your media player, but they also allow you to see the display and get to the buttons. Skins also let you change the color of your media player, and some even come in cool patterns.
